What is the Pathfinder Program?

The Pathfinder Program is a groundbreaking curriculum that integrates elements of role-playing games, the Hero’s Journey, and character development to foster personal growth, resilience, and academic achievement. Designed with both neurotypical and neurodiverse students in mind, our program leverages the principles of popular frameworks such as the Zones of Regulation, PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy), and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to create a tailored and supportive learning experience for every student.

How Does the Pathfinder Program Work?

In the Pathfinder Program, students embark on a series of quests and challenges that mirror real-life situations and promote critical life skills such as emotional regulation, problem-solving, empathy, and collaboration. As they progress through the program, students take on different roles, engage in interactive storytelling, and make choices that impact their journey, all while receiving immediate feedback and support from their mentors and peers.

Our program is structured around several key elements:

• Character Development: Students create and develop their own characters, or “Archetypes,” who grow and evolve throughout the program. This process encourages self-reflection and helps students explore different aspects of their identities and potential.

• Quests and Challenges: Each of the 7 Sessions are like Quests that are designed to teach specific self-actualising and social-emotional skills, such as managing emotions, building healthy relationships, and developing a growth mindset. Each quest is an opportunity for students to practice these skills in a safe and engaging environment.

• Interactive Learning: Through a blend of individual and group activities, students are encouraged to collaborate, negotiate, and problem-solve. Our program promotes teamwork and communication skills, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Students keep active track of their own progress through their own Hero Card. A Type of character sheet that they fill out during each session based on their new understanding of their inner hero, kind of like Levelling-Up in a game. 

• Feedback and Reflection: Regular feedback and reflections through interactive journaling help students understand their progress, set new goals, and reflect on their learning journey. This process is integral to building self-awareness and resilience.
